Week in Review: April 8 - 15

A concise look back at the past week.

Monday:

We said goodbye to , Kensington's (only?) Mexican/Italian restaurant-cum-illegal nightclub. But with an ideal corner location on East 5th Street and Church Avenue and a sizable interior, it seems like a prime piece of real estate for a new tenant. ?

Tuesday:

The staff of for CAMBA's Park Slope Women's Shelter in the sweetest way possible: with dessert. The eatery held both a bake-off and a strawberry shortcake eating contest this weekend to help benefit the shelter, which primarily houses women with mental disabilities and histories of substance abuse.

Wednesday:

The borough of Brooklyn is now home to —of 10 installed city-wide—effectively tripling the amount of solar power the city generates. The panels were installed at (M.S. 442) in Carroll Gardens as well as a Department of Sanitation garage.

Thursday:

from the hands of a baby in Kensington last Thursday, taking advantage of the fact that the toddler's mother was distracted by placing her McDonald's food order. There's a lesson to be learned here, we're sure of it.

Friday:

The popular HBO show all day Monday, meaning certain streets in the neighborhood will be unavailable for parking.
