2 Peekskill Men Accused Of Assault In Front Of Child
Yorktown police said there were orders of protection in effect when the incident happened.
YORKTOWN, NY — Two Peekskill residents were accused of punching a man in the head and endangering the welfare of a child.
The Yorktown Police Department said it received a report of an assault around 10:30 p.m. June 4 at Navajo Fields.
Officers responded, met with the victim and started an investigation.

Police said Luis Paredes, 24, and Carlos Contreras, 23, both from Peekskill, approached the victim, had an argument and punched him in the head several times, causing an injury to his eye.
Authorities said the incident happened in the presence of a 4-year-old child and the child’s mother.

Both the victim, the child and the mother all had active “stay away” orders of protection in effect against one of the Peekskill men who is the child’s father, law enforcement said. The father formerly dated the child’s mother.
On Thursday, the two men arrived at the Yorktown Police Department to voluntarily surrender themselves.
They were arrested and both charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.
Additionally, Paredes was charged with three counts of second-degree criminal contempt, misdemeanors.
The men were arranged by a judge who issued temporary orders of protection on behalf of the victims.
Paredes and Contreras were released on their own recognizance and are due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Aug. 3.
