2 People, 1 Dog Injured In 2-Car Crash In New Paltz

One person and the dog had to be extricated from one of the vehicles, officials said.

NEW PALTZ, NY — Two people and a dog were injured in a two-car crash in New Paltz Thursday.

The New Paltz Fire Department said it received a call around 4:30 p.m. for a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 299 and Red Barn Road.

Upon arrival, first responders found that one of the vehicles had rolled onto its side and that two adults and one dog would need to be freed from both cars.

One person and the dog were extricated from one of the vehicles. The person in the other car was able to be removed without issue through the exposed front door, fire officials said.

A helicopter took one of the persons to Westchester Medical Center due to the severity of the injuries. The other person was taken to a hospital by the New Paltz Rescue Squad.

Officials said the injured dog was taken to the New Paltz Animal Hospital for emergency care. The dog was reported to be in stable condition.

Traffic was closed to the area for about an hour and a half.

The New Paltz Fire Department was assisted by the New Paltz Police Department, New Paltz Rescue Squad, LifeNet Air2 Helicopter, New York State Police, SUNY New Paltz police and the New Paltz Animal Hospital.
