3-Car Crash Shuts Down Taconic State Parkway

The incident happened around 4:20 p.m. on the northbound parkway at the AMVET Memorial Bridge.

YORKTOWN, NY — A three-car crash on the northbound Taconic State Parkway resulted in two people having to be extricated from their vehicles.

The Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department said the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. Thursday on the AMVET Memorial Bridge, which is the northbound span over the New Croton Reservoir.

When the first responders arrived, they found two people trapped.

The northbound parkway had to be shut down completely during the process of getting the people out, officials said.

Traffic was backed up on the parkway because all lanes were closed.

Fire officials said, once the vehicle was stabilized, a "sidewall removal" was necessary to extricate the car's occupants.

The injured people were taken to an area trauma center for treatment, officials said.
