5 Students, School Bus Driver Injured In Collision With SUV

Police said the preliminary investigation found SUV driver had a medical emergency before the vehicles collided.

YORKTOWN, NY — A collision between a school bus and an SUV resulted in some injuries Friday morning.

The Yorktown Police Department said, around 9:30 a.m. Friday, there were calls about a collision on Route 132 near the Taconic State Parkway involving a school bus.

Arriving officers found two vehicles were involved. The Journal News said the school bus was from the Lakeland school district.

A preliminary investigation shows the driver of an SUV may have suffered a medical emergency and the two vehicles collided.

Police said the school bus was carrying several high school students. Five students and the bus driver were taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be serious or life-threatening.

The SUV’s driver was also taken to an area hospital; the severity of the injuries and medical condition are unknown, police said.

The roadway was closed until around 2 p.m. Friday.

Police said the collision is still being investigated.
