Brewster Man Killed In Car Crash During Police Pursuit
Police said a traffic stop was initiated but the driver did not comply.
SOMERS, NY — A Brewster man was killed after his car crashed during a police chase.
The New York State Police said, around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, troopers initiated a traffic stop on a 2019 Nissan Altima on Route 100 in the town of Somers for failing to stay in its lane.
Authorities said the driver did not comply with the trooper’s order and was pursued for a short distance before the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons.

The car struck a tree, police said.
Law enforcement said the driver, identified as Mark P. Frey, 66, of Brewster, was pronounced dead at the scene.
