Calderaro and Hernandez Earn Scouting's Highest Honor

The two boys, members of the BSA Troop 16, are now Eagle Scouts.

Dylan Calderaro and Jacob Hernandez, members of the BSA Troop 164, have earned Scouting's highest honor.

Yorktown supervisor Michael Grace and councilman Vishnu Patel recently congratulated the two newly minted Eagle scouts.

Calderaro's project was to build a lean-to shelter for the bee hives at . The bees at the farm died the previous winter due to exposure to the harsh elements. His shelter was designed to reduce that exposure, while maintaining access to the hives for both the bees and the beekeepers. The Eagle Scout also planted a small wild flower garden for the bees.

Hernandez's project consisted of the construction of three raised flower beds at outside the Life Skills classrooms. The outer two beds were planted with trees and ground covering plants, while the middle bed was left empty for the students to learn and practice gardening skills.
