
1) Croton Falls Road Bridge will be closed to Eastbound traffic starting on Wednesday, Aug. 14 and pedestrian bridge to be removed on Sunday, Aug. 18 which will result in a full closure of the bridge.
Traffic will be detoured around by flaggers and police on Aug. 18 only. Pedestrians can use taxis hired by the contractor for the day. VMS signs (electronic traffic signs) were placed on Monday, Aug. 5 to inform vehicular traffic and also traffic advisories will be issued through the Traffic Division.
2) The sports certification schedules for middle and high school students are now available online. Students must complete the certification process and meet the deadlines to participate in a sport. Click here for more information.
3) Town board members along with Eugene Lang, Neil Gross, Dale Novak, of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 21 New York, held a ceremony on Aug. 7 to celebrate Yorktown's designation as a Purple Heart Town. Read more here.
4) A 20-year-old Somers man, who was a passenger in a car that crashed on Miller Avenue in Somers Monday night, claims he was beaten by a state trooper while he was under arrest, The Journal News has reported. Read more here.
