Cyclist Killed In Thursday Morning Crash ID'd As 44-Year-Old From Irvington

A preliminary investigation, including a review of footage of the accident, showed that the driver had the right of way, Yorktown PD said.

YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown Police Department has released new information about the Thursday morning crash in Westchester County that left a cyclist dead, and a driver hospitalized.

According to police, around 7:47 a.m. on Thursday, 44-year-old Jeremy Solomon, of Irvington, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle on Route 134, and was declared dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for a precautionary medical evaluation and later released.

Police say that their preliminary investigation, including a review of video footage of the accident, determined that the driver had the right of way.

Yorktown police, along with New Castle police, Empress EMS, the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corp., the Yorktown Fire Department, and the Millwood Fire Department responded to the scene after the accident was reported.

Yorktown police say the investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Town of Yorktown Police Department Accident Investigation Unit and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit.
