Drunk Driver Arrested After 2-Vehicle Crash in Yorktown

The following information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 47-year-old New Jersey man faces a drunken driving charge following a two-vehicle car accident in Yorktown,  said.

Police said, Jorge S. Panama was allegedly operating a vehicle eastbound on Route 202 when another vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Route 202, failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto Garden Lane.

The accident occurred on June 17 at about 4 p.m. Further investigation revealed Panama was allegedly operating his vehicle while he was intoxicated. He was charged with drunk driving, a misdemeanor.

Panama and a passenger in his vehicle were transported to Hudson Valley Hospital Center for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and two passengers in the other vehicle were transported to the Westchester County Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Following treatment, Panama was released from the hospital and transported to the  for processing on the charge. He posted the $250 bail and was released to a family member.

The defendant was scheduled to appear in  on July 17.
