Free Slurpee at 7-Eleven, Real Estate Update, Yorktown Native's Photography Exhibit
Here are five things you need to now today, July 11.
1. Get Your Free Slurpee From 7-Eleven Today
Every summer, July 11 is an especially 'cool' day thanks to a frozen freebie from 7-Eleven stores. Today, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., approximately 8,200 participating 7-Eleven stores in across the U.S. will give away free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks.
The 7-Eleven store in Yorktown is located at 1949 Commerce Street.

2. Real Estate Update
Statistics for residential real estate sales in Westchester County showed a 13 percent year-over-year increase for the second quarter of 2012, according to the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service. Check back with Patch this afternoon for the full report and what it means locally.

4. Challenges and Goals of New Somers BOE President
The Somers Board of Education elected Sarena Meyer as its new president July 2. Meyer has already served six years on the board, the most recent as vice president. Meyer now heads a board responsible for approximately 3,600 students and an $80 million budget.
