Hudson Valley Roadwork Projects Will Affect Your Commute This Week

Road construction will start on the Hutch, Sprain Brook, Taconic and I-684. Work starts Monday (and some projects will last until May).

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The first sign of spring in the Hudson Valley might just be the traffic cones on your daily commute.

The NYS Department of Transportation is advising drivers of the following traffic alerts that are set to begin Monday morning:

Lane Reduction Along Hutchinson River Parkway (Westchester County)
The Hutchinson River Parkway southbound will be reduced to one lane between Exit 14 (State Route 127) and Exit 13 (Mamaroneck Avenue) in the Town of Harrison, beginning Monday, March 24, through Friday, May 2, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., for construction work, weather permitting.

Lane Reductions Along Sprain Brook Parkway (Westchester County)
There will be lane reductions along the Sprain Brook Parkway, for the following times and locations, weather permitting:
• Southbound double lane closures between Interstate 287 in the Village of Elmsford and the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Mount Pleasant, beginning Monday, March 24, through Thursday, March 27, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., for roadway repairs.
• Northbound single lane closures between State Route 100C and Hospital Road in the Town of Mount Pleasant, on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27, beginning at 7 a.m. with double lane closures between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., for roadway striping.
• Southbound double lane closures between State Route 100C and Hospital Road in the Town of Mount Pleasant, beginning Wednesday, March 26, through Thursday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for roadway striping.

Ramp Closures Along Taconic State Parkway (Westchester County)
There will be ramp closures along the Taconic State Parkway, nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., for the following dates and locations, for guide rail repairs, weather permitting:
• Northbound Taconic State Parkway ramp to Exit 6 (Pleasantville Road) in the Town of Mount Pleasant on Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25
• Pleasantville Road ramp to the Taconic State Parkway northbound in the Town of Mount Pleasant on Wednesday, March 26
• Northbound Taconic State Parkway ramp to Exit 11 (State Route 134) in the Town of Yorktown on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28

Lane Reductions Along Interstate 684 (Putnam County)
There will be lane reductions along Interstate 684, between the Brewster Rest Area and Exit 10 (U.S. Route 6) in the Town of Southeast, for the following times and locations, for sign work, weather permitting:
• Northbound single lane closures between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with double lane closures between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25
• Northbound single lane closures between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. with double lane closures between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27
• Southbound single lane closures between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27

Drivers should expect delays and follow any posted detours.

"Lives are on the line; slow down and move over for highway workers!" Drivers are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in a driver license suspension.
