Jewelry-Making Workshop, Free Movie Showing in Somers, Exceptional Yorktown Volunteer
Here are five things you need to know July 6 to July 8.

1. Jewelry-Making Workshop in Somers
For the last two and a half years, Joan Lloyd of Yorktown, has been making earrings she donates to battered women's shelters in Westchester. for the full story and video.
On Saturday, July 7 at 1 p.m. she will hold a jewelry making workshop (where those earrings are created) at the Somers library.

2. Exceptional Volunteer: Amy Dobson
Amy Dobson, a 17-year-old Girl Scout in Troop 2133 and an entering senior at , is working to achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award. She has chosen to work with the Friends of the on the Children’s Room Makeover Project for her award. 4. Congrats to Students Named to Dean's List
Fairfield University has announced that the following Yorktown natives have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester:
To be selected for the Dean's List, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5, of a possible 4.0.
5. Free Movie Showing of "Kung Fu Panda" at Somers Library
Po works in his family's noodle shop while dreaming the day away about becoming a Kung Fu master. The movie runs for 88 minutes and in the program room on Friday, July 6 at 3:15 p.m.
