Katonah Man Speeds In School Zone: Yorktown Police

Police said the man didn't have a valid license.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Katonah man was arrested after being accused of speeding in a school zone in Yorktown.

The Yorktown Police Department said Joseph J. Iaropoli III, 27, of Katonah, was charged Friday with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operator and speed in school zone, traffic infractions.

Police said, around 11:15 a.m. Friday, an officer on routine patrol said he saw a vehicle traveling west on Veterans Road going 35 mph in a school zone posted for a maximum of 15 mph.

The car was stopped by police, and Iaropoli was identified as the driver.

An investigation and computer check at the scene found that his driving privilege in the state was revoked for failure to submit to a chemical test.

Iaropoli was placed under arrest and processed at the scene.

He was issued uniform traffic tickets and released to answer the charges in the Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 28.
