Knife Pulled At Gas Station Over Cutting In Line: NYSP

Police were able to disarm the man who was charged with two misdemeanors.

WAPPINGER, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of pulling a knife on someone at a gas station who he thought cut in line.

The New York State Police said Sydney E. Heidt, 23, of Wappinger, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanors.

Police said, around 2 p.m. Wednesday, troopers were sent to the Gulf gas station on Route 9 in Wappinger for a report of a knife fight.

Troopers responded and said they were able to disarm Heidt.

The investigation found the fight began over a person cutting the line at the gasoline pump, according to authorities.

During the incident, police said, Heidt brandished and menaced the victim with a knife.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court Aug. 11.
