Lakeland High School Field Hockey Ends Great Season
The team finishes as SectionOne and NYS Regional Champions and NYS Runnerup
The Lakeland High School Field Hockey team completed a great season this past weekend (Nov. 10 and 11) losing 1-0 to Long Island's Garden City High School in the Class B Championship held at Williamsville High School outside of Buffalo on Nov. 11.
Lakeland had defeated Afton High School (from outside Binghamton) 2-0 in Saturday's (Nov. 10) state semifinal behind two goals by Cara O'Shea. A senior forward, Cara was named the Hornets sportsmanship award recipient.
In addition, senior midfielder Emily Kness (6) and junior defender/midfielder Erin Daly (1) were named to the Class B all-tournament team for Lakeland.

Lakeland finished the season 22-1 winning the Section One and New York Regional State titles. Lakeland has won 12 NY State Field Hockey championships including nine in a row from 2009 through 2017. They had not lost to a New York State team since 2008, losing to a Connecticut team during that streak.
