Mahopac Man Accused Of Drunken Driving In Yorktown

Police said the man had a collapsible baton hidden in his pants.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mahopac man was accused of drunken driving and having an illegal weapon hidden in his pants.

The Yorktown Police Department said Robert S. Balducci, 36, of Mahopac, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more and reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

Police said, around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, an officer conducting speed enforcement on East Main Street said he saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while passing other cars on the wrong side of the road.

The officer tried to catch up with the vehicle and again said it was speeding on Route 6 near Barger Street.

A traffic stop was made and Balducci was identified as the driver.

After an investigation, it was found he was driving while intoxicated by alcohol.

Balducci was also in possession of a collapsible baton which was hidden in his pants.

He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing, where it was determined he had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more, police said.

Balducci was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and is due back on April 30 to answer the charges.
