Man Arrested For Theft Using Fake Check In 2021: Police
Authorities said the man stole more than $1,000 using a fraudulent check.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of stealing more than $1,000 using a fake check almost two and a half years ago.
The Yorktown Police Department said David James, 31, of Yorktown, was arrested Tuesday and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, felonies.
Police said, around 2 p.m. Oct. 27, 2021, an officer was sent to Footbik Soccer School in the Jefferson Valley Mall for a report of a theft.

An investigation was conducted and found that James stole $1,162 in the form of a fraudulent check.
As a result of the investigation, he was identified and a warrant was applied for and issued by the Yorktown Justice Court on Jan. 31.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, James surrendered himself at the Yorktown Police Headquarters on the outstanding warrant of arrest.
He was processed on the charges and arraigned, after which he was released on his own recognizance.
James is due to return to court March 14.
