Marie Horowitz Appointed as Assistant Principal of Mildred E. Strang Middle School

The new assistant principal of is Marie Horowitz, who was appointed to the position by the Yorktown school board earlier this week.
Horowitz has served as Social Studies and Science Chairperson at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School in the East Ramapo School District, and also as Summer School Principal at the Sleepy Hollow middle and high schools.

"We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Horowitz to the Yorktown Schools, and believe that her skills and experience in developing and supervising teams of teachers, in using technology and in building safe, secure and supportive environments for students andstaff will be a tremendous asset to us all," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Napolitano said. "Mrs. Horowitz comes highly recommended as a teacher leaderand staff developer."
principal Linda Grimm said the woman will be an asset to the school and the district.

"Mrs. Horowitz’s knowledge and familiarity with many of our programs and evaluation rubrics will enable her to hit the ground running," Grimm said. "She was responsible for initiating many programs at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School that we have at MESMS."
Horowitz replaces Deirdre Amerling and is appointed as a secondary assistant principal at a salary of $128,209.
