Meet local contemporary fiction author, Kristina Carmela through a few fun questions!

Tell us about yourself

I'm a born & raised Yorktowner, growing up playing YAC softball and dancing in the YHS Dance Company. I've always been drawn to creating things. I have gravitated a lot to sewing & making blankets as well as oil painting often. Writing has become my favorite creative outlet over the years! I began really focusing on my writing in 2021 and am about to publish my ninth book this fall!

What are your books about?

All of my books take place in a fictional town called Nelsonville, RI. They're adult contemporary fiction and most of them have some sort of romance substory too. Within this little town, I'm working on a few different projects. I have a main series that follows five women over the course of five years through five sets of trilogies. The series is a fifth of the way complete & is filled with family drama, found family, women finding their sisterhood, small town life & love. These books are all interconnected too, so they flow really well together, focusing on a new main character with each release.

Then I have novellas that follow a side character we know & love, through one life changing year. These are fun ways to either be introduced to Nelsonville or learn more about characters you've met.

As if this isn't enough, there will also be standalone novels with the first one coming out this September. These will all take place in Nelsonville, they might be different genres and explore different time frames too. There's a lot of fun things planned!

What is your upcoming book about?

Uncharted Territory is the first Nelsonville standalone and romance novel! This story follows Maeve Houlihan, your chronically single best friend. We watch her fully believe that at 34, she is going to end up alone to deciding to being open to what the universe may offer her. This is a story of embracing change while claiming everything wonderful that is meant to be yours. We watch her fall in love, push herself toward her dreams and find a confidence she was always lacking.

This book is perfect for adult readers who enjoy banter, vulnerable moments, low stakes, sweet & sexy romance and a story to make you feel warm & fuzzy inside. Coming out on September 30, 2025!
