Mohegan Lake Woman Drives Away Without Passenger, Arrested by Police

The following information was provided by the Carmel Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Charged with Unlicensed Operation, Large Amount of Cash Found in Car

Carmel police observed a vehicle stopped adjacent to the bike trail on Bucks Hollow Road on June 17 at about 1 a.m. A man, who was standing near the passenger side door of the vehicle, told police he was waiting for a friend at that location. But at that time, the driver – a 33-year-old Mohegan Lake woman – drove away without the passenger.

The woman, Lisa Deagan, was stopped and questioned by police. She allegedly told a "completely different story than her passenger as to why they were parked there," police said.

A computer check with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles revealed she had allegedly a suspended driver's license. As a result, Deagan was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Police did an inventory search of the vehicle and found a large amount of cash, more than $1,500 in the center console, police said. The defendant was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in court on July 23.
