Obituary: Mary Lillian Sargis, 93

SOMERS, NY — Mary Lillian Sargis (née Nweeia), daughter of the late Sophie and Isaac Nweeia, passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus on March 7, 2022, at the age of 93. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) of 66 years and her daughters Karen Sargis and husband Christopher McCarthy and Elizabeth Sargis Kripp and husband Mark Kripp. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Kathryn and husband Andrew, Jacob and wife Lucia, Emma, Sophie, Lilly, and great-grandson Andrew, Jr. (Drew). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mary, known as “Lil” to all, was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Lil started working at Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley, NY, in 1963, as a credit payables analyst until her retirement in 1990. Raised and married in Yonkers, she and Bill retired to Somers, NY, where they enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States and Europe. Until the pandemic struck, Lil could be seen playing a lively game of Mahjong with her friends on a weekly basis. She loved to read, bowl, play cards and watch movies.

Lil was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
