Peekskill Man Violates Protection Order, Assaults Woman: Police
Police said the man threw the woman to the ground.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man is facing a felony charge after being accused of assaulting a woman who was under an active order of protection.
The Yorktown Police Department said James G. Spry Jr., 27, of Peekskill, was arrested Thursday and charged with third-degree assault, a felony, and first-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.
Police said, on Tuesday, officers took a report of a past domestic incident at a Yorktown residence.

An investigation was conducted and authorities said it was found that on Jan. 15 Spry threw a woman to the ground, striking the back of her head.
Police said the incident was in violation of an active order of protection.

Spry was contacted and voluntarily surrendered himself to the police Thursday.
After being arrested, he was processed and arraigned by a judge who issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victim.
Spry was released on his own recognizance to return to court Feb. 8.
