Road Closings, Power Outages Reported In Yorktown, Somers

YORKTOWN, NY — Heavy winds and rain in the overnight storm caused problems in the town of Yorktown.

Several road closures were announced by the Yorktown Police Department.

They are:

  • Mountain Road at Wood Street: tree down with wires blocking roadway
  • Union Road @ Route 132: tree down blocking roadway
  • Dale Street: tree down blocking roadway
  • Sylvan Road: tree down blocking roadway
  • Hunterbrook Road at Baptist Church Road: tree blocking roadway
  • Willoway Street at Route 35: Tree down with wires blocking roadway

As of 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Con Edison is reporting 31 customers without power in the town of Yorktown. The estimated restoration time is 1 p.m. Thursday.

NYSEG is reporting 217 outages in the town of Somers and 120 outages in Yorktown.

The power company is assessing the outages in Somers and, as yet, has no estimated restoration time.

NYSEG said the Yorktown outages are estimated to be restored by noon Thursday.
