Services Held for Mary Jane Gardner

From the Yorktown Funeral Home: 

Mary Jane Gardner, known to her friends and family as Ma, Mary, Janie, Aunt Janie, Jane, MJ, Mems, M, MJG, has left this world in the same way she lived her life – when she was good and ready to.

She joins her predeceased mother and father, Johanna Kovac and Raymond Gardner, her brothers Donald Gardner, and Stanley Lent, her sister Margaret Lent-Behm, her Aunt Annie, her beloved dog Nicky and many other family and friends along the way.

She is survived by her daughter Monica Fonseca, her sisters Lorraine Agosta, Carolee Odell, Darlene Contreras, Evelyn “Jackie” Lent and her brother Douglas Gardner. She is also survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, second cousins, third cousins, the entire,very large, ragtag band of gypsy relatives, and her cherished friends, whom she held so dear.

She loved playing cards, eating chocolate, watching TV (Law and Order SVU and Monk being two of her favorites) helping others whenever she could, fighting for workersʼ rights and spending time with friends and family. Anyone who knows her will surely say that they broke the mold with her, for she was definitely one of a kind.

Wake services to celebrate her life were held at Yorktown Funeral Home 945 East Main Street Shrub Oak, NY 10588 on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 4-8pm followed by a memorial service at the same location on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Condolences can be sent to her daughter Monica Fonseca PO Box 266 Jefferson Valley NY 10535.
