Sleepy Hollow Man Faces Felony DWI Charge: Police

Yorktown police said he had a previous conviction of drunken driving within the past 10 years.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Sleepy Hollow man was accused of drunken driving, which resulted in a felony charge.

The Yorktown Police Department said Claudio P. Maita-Niola, 35, of Sleepy Hollow, was arrested Sunday night after being stopped by a police officer who said he was moving unsafely from his lane.

After an investigation, the officer said Maita-Niola was driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Authorities also found that he was driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more and had been convicted of DWI within the last 10 years.

Maita-Niola was charged with driving while intoxicated, previous conviction within 10 years and aggravated driving while intoxicated with one prior conviction, both felonies.

He was also charged with open container of alcohol in a vehicle and other traffic violations, police said.

Following processing, Maita-Niola was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance to a responsible party.

He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 4.
