Congratulations to a from a Powerball ticket. The winner, Alessio Martino, purchased the winning ticket at the Bengal Newsstand in White Plains. The drawing was held on June 16.

The following local residents are among the 1,423 students who earned Dean's List honors for the spring 2012 semester at SUNY Oneonta. To qualify for the Dean's List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.

3. Small Businesses Workshop

Do you run a small business in the area? There's a workshop on Thursday you may be interested in. As part of the outreach initiatives sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council, the Small Business Outreach Initiative will take place on Thursday, June 28 at the on 123 Main Street in White Plains, at 6:30 p.m.
During the event, local business owners and future entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from:
- Department of Labor
- Department of Taxation and Finance
- State Liquor Authority
- Workers’ Compensation Board
- Empire State Development

4. Free HIV Testing Wednesday
Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP) health centers in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties is Wednesday at health centers in New Rochelle, White Plains, Yonkers, Spring Valley and Brewster.
5. The Sun is Back
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with high temperatures near 80. There is a 20percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m., according to forecasters.
