Somers Schools Propose Quarter Percent Increase in Budget for 2016-2017

Tax Levy to Increase by 0.12%.

The Somers Central School District has adopted its proposed budget for 2016-2017, which includes an increase by 0.24% over last year’s budget, or $211,913.

The tax levy will increase by 0.12% in the proposed budget. The estimated tax rate percentage will increase by 0.63%. A public hearing on the budget will be held on May 10 and the vote will take place on May 17.

Enrollment in the Somers elementary schools has continued to decline, which means a reduction in teacher positions, according to the board’s website. Total enrollment in the school district is down by 3.6%. You can read more about the Somers school budget here.
