Teen Steals Three Shirts While Working as Cashier at Jefferson Valley Mall

An 18-year-old Mahopac teen is due in court next month to answer charges that he stole three men’s shirts while working as a cashier at a Yorktown store, police said.

The teen, whose name police did not release due to his eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said they learned of the theft of Aug. 9 when they received a report from the Zumiez store in the Jefferson Valley Mall. The Mahopac teen had stolen three men’s shirts, valued at a total of $86.85, while working as a cashier between July 29 and Aug. 7, police said.

He voluntarily surrendered himself at Yorktown police headquarters on Aug. 9 and which time he was arrested.

The teen was released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Sept. 10.
