1. Yorktown Town Board members will hold an outdoor meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Brian J. Slavin Aquatic Facility (known as the Shrub Oak Pool) starting at 6 p.m. During the meeting, there will be a public hearing on the latest location for the proposed Yorktown dog park.
2. Somers Board of Education members will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. at the Somers Middle School, classroom 246.
3. The Yorktown Conservation Board will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Yorktown Town Hall board room, located at 363 Underhill Avenue.
4. Somers High School sophomore Adam Circle will teach a group of children the basics of chess at the Somers Library on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. It is open to children ages 6 to 8.
5. Therapy Dog Romeo offers listening ears for reading practice at the Somers Library on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is open to all children who are able to read on their own.
6. The Yorktown Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Yorktown Town Hall board room.
