Ulster County Man Stole Chainsaw In 2023 From Yorktown Lowe's: Police

The theft happened in May, police said, but the man didn't turn himself in until Monday.

YORKTOWN, NY — An Ulster County man was arrested after being accused of stealing a chainsaw from a home improvement store almost a year ago.

The Yorktown Police Department said Christian Bang, 32, of Highland, was charged Monday with misdemeanor petit larceny after an arrest warrant had been issued for him.

Police said they received a report on May 13 of a past larceny at Lowe’s.

An officer who was sent to the store completed an investigation during which Bang was identified as the person who, on May 7, took a chainsaw valued at $349 off a display shelf and left without paying for it.

He was contacted and failed to turn himself in, police said, and an arrest warrant was issued June 30.

Bang surrendered himself Tuesday at the Yorktown Police Department and was arrested.

After processing, he was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Bang is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court March 14.
