Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: History Competition Judges

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Trees for Tribs Farm Work Day
Hilltop Hanover Farm is hosting its Community Farm Work Day ("Trees for Tribs") and volunteers of all experience levels are needed to repair tree mesh and stakes, perform light pruning, and remove weeds. Training and all supplies will be provided, but volunteers must be able to lift a lightweight plastic tube above shoulder height, open and close zip ties, manipulate pruners, walk through uneven terrain, and use a rubber mallet/hammer.
Date: March 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Corporate Partnerships Internship
Volunteer New York!'s Corporate Partnerships Internship is the ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about volunteerism and interested in learning more about how corporations engage their employees in volunteerism. This intern will assist with days of service, ordering supplies, coordinating meetings, and gathering impact data. Volunteers must be 18+.

National History Day Competition Judges & Volunteers
During the National History Day Competition, students in grades 6-12 research a topic that relates to a specific theme and then present their work in one of five categories. Volunteers are needed both to serve as judges (18+ only) as well as to assist with the event itself (16+). Volunteering has a direct impact on students who seek thoughtful, helpful feedback on their projects that will serve them whether or not they move on to the next tier of the contest.
Date: March 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; multiple opportunities
