Winter Weather Advisory: Overnight Snow, Icy Roads For Morning Commute
For much of the Hudson Valley, conditions will deteriorate before midnight as freezing temps and a wintry mix make driving hazardous.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Wintry conditions are expected to lead to hazardous conditions and a tricky morning commute in much of the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect overnight for nearly the entire Hudson Valley, including Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Ulster and Northern Westchester counties.
For the southern areas, the advisory goes into effect at 10 p.m., while conditions in northern areas will begin to deteriorate after midnight, according to the NWS. The advisories remain in effect until 11 a.m.

Mixed precipitation is expected. Ice accumulations around a light glaze to several hundredths of an inch are predicted. Total snow accumulations around 1 inch or less are expected for most locations, but up to around 2 inches in western Orange County, Dutchess County, and Eastern Ulster County.
Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute, according to forecasters.

The NWS is urging travelers to be prepared for slippery roads, slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions are available by calling 5 1 1.
Forecasters said those going outside should watch their first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing the risk of a fall and injury.
