Yorktown Man Accused Of Having Illegal Drugs

Police said a K-9 team assisted in finding the drugs during a traffic stop.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of having illegal drugs after being stopped for a traffic violation.

The Yorktown Police Department said Christopher Bamberger, 33, of Yorktown, was charged May 24 with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and fail to use designated lane and driving on the shoulder, traffic infractions.

Police said, around 10:20 p.m. May 24, an officer said he saw a car fail to stay in its lane while driving on the shoulder of road.

A traffic stop was conducted and Bamberger was identified as the driver.

The officer was assisted by a K-9 team, which found a quantity of a controlled substance.

Bamberger was taken to police headquarters for processing after which he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court June 29.
