Yorktown Man Accused Of Reckless Driving, Assault

He was arrested recently for the June incident.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown Heights man was accused of assault and driving recklessly after a two-car crash in June.

The Yorktown Police Department said Arber Gashi, 24, of Yorktown Heights, was charged with the following misdemeanors:

  • Reckless driving
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief
  • Third-degree assault

He was also charged with three traffic infractions, including not having a seatbelt on and speeding.

Police said, shortly after 9 a.m. June 18, officers went to Crompond Road, just west of the Bear Mountain State Parkway, for a report of a two-car crash with injuries.

The investigation found Gashi drove in a reckless manner, causing serious physical injury to the other driver and damage to another's property.

Police also said he was driving without a seatbelt, traveling at an unreasonable speed and driving to the left of pavement markings.

Around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Gashi turned himself in at Yorktown Police Headquarters. He was arrested, processed and released on his own recognizance.

Gashi is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 4
