YORKTOWN, NY — The town of Yorktown was named the No. 1 safest small town in the United States.
The website MoneyGeek analyzed statistics on murder, rape, aggravated assault, burglaries and car theft to quantify the cost of crime and ranked small cities and towns nationwide.
Yorktown Supervisor Tom Diana said, as a former police officer, he could attest that Yorktown has low crime and the town is trying to keep it that way.

Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble said the recognition would not be possible without the public’s support.
“Our officers can deliver great public safety because they have many partners in the community who support them,” he said. “I’m proud to say that we continue to help keep Yorktown a safe place to live, work, visit and raise a family.”
To rank the safest small cities and towns, MoneyGeek started with standardized crime statistics reported to the FBI and then used population data to determine crime rates per 100,000 people.
