Yorktown Resident Gets Summer Internship with Worldwide Engineering Firm

Yorktown resident Leonard Lustrino will serve as a intern at the engineering firm Burns & McDonnell this summer at their New England regional office.
Burns & McDonnell's internship program that is offered to more than 130 students worldwide. Candidates are selected based on their academic discipline as well as their skill set. The program seeks to offer a meaningful and hands-on experience for students, while providing them the opportunity to become involved in some of the industry’s largest and most challenging projects.
"Working at Burns & McDonnell this summer will provide excellent insight into the field of engineering consulting," Lenny Lustrino said. "This, combined with my past internships and education, will really help me understand the daily activities and responsibilities that the construction industry demands."

Lustrino currently attends Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a civil engineering major. He expects to earn a Master’s Degree at the end of the year. Lustrino will work with Burns & McDonnell throughout the summer working directly with a project management team for a major project.
Each intern is given a mentor within the firm to assist them in their learning process. The interns are also invited to weekly lunch and learns that are coordinated by Burns & McDonnell University to introduce them to company leaders, the firm’s eleven global practices, as well as key projects the firm is working on. Interns are also asked to perform a community service project as part of their experience.
