Yorktown Runner Completes Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon

In addition, a team completed the marathon to raise money for an organization working to find a cure for cerebral palsy.

Tim and Ellie Kelly ran 11 miles and then met up with their 8-year-old son Finn to carry him throught the last miles and then across the finish line of the Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon on Saturday, March 23. 

Finn, is a student at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES in Yorktown.

The family organized a team of 15 to run in the marathon in honor of Finn, who is diagnosed with ceberal palsy. The team raised more than $38,000 to donate to the Cerebral Palsy International Research Foundation (CPIRF). Time and Ellie finished the race in 2:12:56. Their older son Dillon finished in 1:53:36. Most of the runners in the race were running for the Kelly's cause. Read more here.

The overall winner of Saturday's half marathon was Fikadu Lemma, 29, from the Bronx with a time of 1:12:00.

The first woman to finish was Kate Pallardy, coming in 12th overall. The 27-year-old from NYC had a time of 1:22:12. 

Michael Schmutzer, 39, of Yorktown, came in 24th with a time of 1:28:32.

Congrats to all 885 participants from the region who finished this challenging race.

"This has to be the hardest half marathon ever," wrote David Raguso on Facebook.
