Yorktown School District Awards Tenure To 25
The district's tenure process involves a four-year probationary period — three years for those previously tenured elsewhere in the state.
YORKTOWN, NY — Twenty-five faculty members in the Yorktown Central School District were awarded tenure.
At the May 22 meeting of the Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Ron Hattar spoke about the recipients and celebrated their commitment to their students.
“Through their teaching, they have instilled a love for learning, fostered critical thinking and nurtured intellectual growth,” he said.

The educators have gone above and beyond their classroom duties by taking on roles within the school community, Hattar said.
“They have mentored colleagues, championed students and, in their relatively short time in our district,” he said, “made a profound impact on many of us.”

The district’s tenure process involves a four-year probationary period — three for those previously tenured elsewhere in the state — during which candidates undergo a dozen formal observations and numerous informal check-ins.
Tenure recipients were approved by the Board of Education based on recommendations made by Hattar.
