Yorktown, Somers School Districts Consider Budgets

Members of the Yorktown and Somers communities have the chance to weigh in on school budgets before voting on May 16.

YORKTOWN, NY—The Yorktown and Somers school districts are considering their respective 2017-18 budgets.

Statewide school district budget elections take place May 16.

Yorktown Central School District will host budget workshops on March 6 and April 3, followed by a public hearing taking place on May 8. All budget-related meetings take place at 7 p.m. at Mildred E. Strang Middle School at 2701 Crompond Road in Yorktown Heights.

Somers Central School District held a budget planning session on Feb. 14, where anticipated state aid, non-instructional expenses and tax levy cap calculations were discussed. On March 7, instructional program expenses and potential capital project expansion will be covered, and on March 21, the proposed budget and tax cap will be reviewed. The budget will be adopted April 18, followed by a May 9 public hearing on the budget. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the Somers Middle School Library at 250 Route 202 in Somers.
