Yorktown Supervisor Tom Diana Dies

YORKTOWN, NY — Yorktown Supervisor Thomas Diana died Friday.

Deputy Supervisor Ed Lachterman made the announcement on the town’s website.

“With deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss for his wife Donna, his family and friends and the entire town of Yorktown, we regret to inform you of the tragic news that Yorktown Town Supervisor Tom Diana passed away this morning,” he said.

“Tom was an incredible friend to so many. He was filled with energy, an open mind and heart and a sense of duty and that influenced everything he did,” Lachterman said.

He said that more details will be communicated with Yorktown residents as “we process this tragic moment for our community.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer released a statement about Diana’s death, saying that he extended his heartfelt condolences.

“Supervisor Diana’s dedicated service to our community, marked by his tenure as a former Westchester County Police Officer, leaves an indelible impact on the lives he touched,” he said. “His commitment to public service and his leadership will be remembered with gratitude.”

Latimer said the county’s thoughts and prayers were with Diana’s family, friends and the entire Yorktown community “as we mourn the loss of a respected public servant.”

Diana had just been elected to his first full term as town supervisor. He was appointed supervisor in January 2023 to serve the remainder of now state Assemblyman Matt Slater.

He was first elected to the town board in 2015.

Diana was a member of the Yorktown Elks and the Sons of American Legion Squadron 1009.
