Yorktown Woman Faces Harassment Charge for 'Alarming' Texts to Girl

The 43-year-old woman who sent those "harassing and alarming" text messages is a teacher at the Haldane school district.

A 43-year-old Yorktown woman – who is a teacher at the Haldane school district – is facing a new harassment charge for sending "alarming" text messages to a 14-year-old Yorktown girl, police said.

The woman was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor.

Police said she sent "harassing and alarming text messages" to the teen's cell phone in March and April. The teen's parents filed a police report on Sept. 10. Following an investigation, police contacted the woman's attorney on Nov. 6 and she surrendered herself on Nov. 7.

She was previously arrested at the end of August for sending harassing text messages to another resident – a Yorktown father. Police said she sent the text messages to the man between Aug. 5 and Aug. 12 before police arrested her on Aug. 28.

Yorktown Detective Brian Shanahan handled both cases.

The woman was ordered to have no contact with the Yorktown man and in the latest incident – with the 14-year-old girl.

She was released without bail and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Dec. 12.
