Two Smithfield-Selma High School students were trapped inside the car and two others were thrown according to reports.
JOHNSON COUNTY, NC — Four teenagers were killed in a crash Monday while riding in a Kia Soul that was speeding at 104 mph near Interstate 95, according to media reports.
PEOPLE reported that 17-year-old Alan Lee Lockamy was driving the Kia around 2:45 a.m., when a trooper clocked the vehicle at 104 mph.
Authorities failed to catch the car, which crashed into trees minutes later near an exit ramp after leaving the interstate at Brogden Road, CNBC Charlotte reported.

All four teens died in the crash, and all were either current or former students at Smithfield-Selma High School.

A remembrance vigil was planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Smithfield-Selma's Charles T. Tucker football field, school officials said Tuesday.
"Our hearts are heavy at Smithfield-Selma High School after our most recent loss of four SSS students. Earlier this year we also mourned the loss of another Spartan. Tomorrow night, we invite our entire community to come together as we remember each of them," school officials said in a Facebook post.
Gift cards for the boys' families can be dropped off at the front office or in Students Services, school officials said. A temporary memorial is placed at the school, where students can add photos, stuffed animals and posters for the next week, school officials said.
"Thank you for keeping our school family in your hearts and minds as we navigate today, tomorrow and the days ahead. In spite of our present feelings, we know that we are forever," school officials said in the post.
