Charlotte Makes List Of Most Family-Friendly Cities

Recently, Homes.com announced their list of the most family-friendly cities in the country. Charlotte came in as number two in the nation.

When it comes to relocating, a family can have a variety of priorities when it comes to the city they will live in. This could be the schools, the traffic, how safe it is, or even just the cost of living. Recently, Homes.com announced their list of the most family-friendly cities in the country. Charlotte came in as number two in the nation.

Here’s how Charlotte ranked in the following five categories:

Schools
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District ranks a 3.5 out of a possible 5. With 10 Charlotte schools ranking in the top 50 schools in the state, there’s no question as to why this city is one of the most desirable places for families to settle and grow.

Parks:

According to the Homes.com list, Charlotte received their top rank of 5 for their parks and recreation system. It’s no question that when families are looking for where to move, they consider the local amenities around them in which to spend quality family time. This proves as a huge plus for the flourishing city.

This category is yet another win for the Charlotte community with a 5 out 5 rating. On average, Charlotte residents can expect to pay around $2,000 a month to cover their living expenses. With the rising cost of living in many popular cities across the nation, this is a major win.

Crime:

The positives just keep rolling in for Charlotte as it comes in with a 4.5 out of 5 for citywide crime rate. This is such a colossal comfort for families which, undoubtedly, puts the Charlotte area at the top for many to call this metropolis home.

Commute:

With the rapid growth of many US cities, commute times often lead to to 3+ hours added to the workday. Again, Charlotte passes this test with flying colors clasping 4.5 out of 5. Commuting isn’t only a pain but cuts into the desired family time that many Americans hold dear. Not having to exchange quality family time for spending the ever so familiar unwanted time on an overcrowded highway is enough for most to choose Charlotte as their humble abode.

Childcare:

This category is the only one in which Charlotte has a little room for improvement. Though a 1 out of 5 for childcare may sound daunting, there are many ways to seek out premium childcare facilities in the city. A great resource is the NC Childcare and Early Education website where it details how to choose quality programs for your little ones. Also, nannies are a popular option in the area where there are many trusted nanny networks that work with families in selecting the perfect “nanny addition” to your familial village.

Charlotte seems well-deserving of the number 2 spot in this ranking. There are plenty of amazing places to live and to raise a family in North Carolina. It’s good to see that at least one of our amazing cities made a national list.
