More than a month has passed since the Trojan women decided to raise money and donate it to those who suffer from the debilitating disease. Team members spent hours of their personal time cutting out commemorative ribbons and selling them in the Student Center lobby for a small donation. Surpassing an initial goal of one thousand dollars, they have raised nearly two thousand dollars and donations are still coming in!  All of the money raised will be given to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Cancer is the leading cause of death and claimed nearly 10 million lives worldwide in 2020.  The most common were lung, colon, liver, stomach and breast cancer, that according to the World Health Organization.

Meanwhile, coach Newman says the fundraiser was a great way for the team to learn about compassion, team work and the importance of giving back to the local community.

Please come out and show your support.  First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m. in Honeycutt Recreation Center ball park.  Admission is free!
