It was a bittersweet trek back to Fayetteville aboard the FTCC Black Beauty athletics bus this weekend for the Trojan men’s basketball team.  They’d just lost a tough battle on the hardwood against Davidson-Davie Community College in Thomasville, North Carolina for the Region 10, NJCAA Championship title.  A victory for the Trojans would have given them a golden ticket to automatically advance to the National Championship game on March 13, 2022 in Danville, Illinois.  It wasn’t meant to be, and took home second place in the competition.  Now that everyone is back to the home base, our Trojans are back in hard core practice sessions, hoping for a second chance to attend the big dance with #1 ranked Davidson-Davie.

FTCC men’s basketball coach, Brian Hurd says, “he’s looking forward to the challenge and getting back to practice.  It’s all part of the preparations for the District Championship game against Florida Gateway College.”  Hurd says, “the team needs to return to their normal routine of preparing for their opponents, preparing a scouting report and watching game film of replays.”

No doubt about it, Hurd and his Trojans are a strong force to reckon with on the basketball court.  Now ranked #2 in the NJCAA Championship playoffs, FTCC stands a solid opportunity to move to the head of the line to meet Davidson-Davie once again on the court for the coveted title of “National Champion”.

We all know that our FTCC men’s basketball team feeds off fans support, that’s where you fit in concerning the upcoming faceoff between the Trojans and the Florida Gateway team.  Make sure you mark your calendar for March 5, 2022 at 2 p.m., Methodist University, 5400 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville.  Trojans will need your support that day.  Bring your family and friends.  Plan to be loud and proud, because we REMAIN TROJAN STRONG!
