Fort Bragg is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Fort Bragg has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Fort Bragg is home to one of the largest military installations in the world. With nearly 50,000 active-duty personnel and a land area of more than 160,000 acres, Fort Bragg is a thriving hub of military activity. It's also home to the storied 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Special Forces Command.
- For outdoor enthusiasts, the Fort Bragg area has plenty of spots to explore. The nearby Cape Fear River is a popular spot for kayaking and fishing, while the All-American Trail offers miles of scenic hiking and biking trails.
- If you're feeling brave, you can try your hand at indoor skydiving at the nearby Paraclete XP SkyVenture. The facility accepts flyers of all ages and skill levels, and hosts family nights and birthday parties for adventurous guests.
- Did you know that Fort Bragg is also home to the JFK Special Warfare Center and School? This prestigious institution trains some of the world's most elite soldiers in unconventional warfare, psychological operations and more. If you're interested in military history and strategy, this is definitely a must-visit spot.
- Fort Bragg is home to the annual All American Races, a popular marathon and 5K event that draws thousands of runners from all over the country. The marathon course winds through the base and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
