Wojnarowski elected to National Sports Media Hall of Fame (sbu.edu) — Greensboro’s Grandover Resort & Spa will host the National Sports Media Association’s 66th awards weekend June 28–29, 2026, bringing major sports media names to the city. Adrian “Woj” Wojnarowski headlines the new Hall of Fame class, joined by James Brown and posthumous inductees Greg Gumbel and Sid Hartman.
   

2. Man shot during struggle with Greensboro police released from hospital, charged (wfmynews2.com) — A Greensboro man who was shot during a December struggle with police has been released from the hospital and is now facing multiple felony charges, according to Greensboro police. The incident on Van Allen Circle remains under internal review, and the officer who fired the weapon is on administrative duty while investigators examine whether department policies were followed.

Car registration error leaves Greensboro driver stuck until a call to News 2 (wfmynews2.com) — A Greensboro driver spent weeks battling a bizarre DMV records error that suddenly showed his longtime North Carolina–registered car as never registered, even suggesting it was in Florida. After he contacted a Call for Action team, DMV officials personally verified his paperwork and VIN, finally restoring his registration and offering a roadmap for other locals facing similar bureaucratic headaches.
   

4. Monks on walk for peace expected in NC (thetimesnews.com) — Buddhist monks on a 120-day “Walk for Peace” from Texas to Washington, D.C., plan to pass through North Carolina this month, with Greensboro shown on their overview route map. They expect to enter the state between Jan. 10 and 20 and reach the Triangle later in the month, drawing crowds for prayer and support along the way.
