2 New COVID-19 Deaths Increase Iredell County Toll To 37
Health officials reported 13 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county since Monday.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — The coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of at least 37 Iredell County residents, an increase of two deaths reported in the county in the span of a day, according to Iredell County Health Department data released Tuesday afternoon.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the county increased by 13 Tuesday, for a total of 2,969 known cases.
ICHD said 17 county residents remained hospitalized for COVID-19 illness as of Tuesday afternoon. Out of the total tally of known cases in the county, 305 residents remained isolated in their homes and an estimated 2,610 cases were assumed recovered.

North Carolina reported 195,549 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state Tuesday, which included 1,168 newly confirmed cases, according to data released Sept. 22 by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Iredell County health officials are grouping cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases have been confirmed as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22:

- 612 cases (up from 602 cases reported Sept. 18)
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 1,214 cases (up from 1,195 cases reported Sept. 18)
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 1,143 cases (up from 1,111 cases reported Sept. 18)
Globally, more than 31.4 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and more than 967,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Tuesday. In the United States, more than 6.8 million people have been infected and more than 200,000 people have died from COVID-19.
