Iredell COVID-19 Update: 33 New Cases Reported In A Day
As of Thursday, 17 Iredell County residents remained hospitalized with coronavirus-related illness, county health officials said.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — The number of known COVID-19 cases in Iredell County rose by 33 lab-confirmed cases in a day, according to county health department data.
The new cases increased the county's tally of known cases to 3,736. The county's coronavirus death toll is 44, according to the Iredell County Health Department.
As of Oct. 22, ICHD said 17 county residents remained hospitalized for COVID-19 illness.

North Carolina reported 252,992 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state Thursday, which included 2,400 cases confirmed since Wednesday, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Statewide, at least 1,205 were reported hospitalized.

Iredell County health officials group cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases have been confirmed as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22:
North Region (zip codes 27020, 27028, 27055, 28625, 28634, 28636, 28660, 28689 and 28678)
- 741 cases (up from 715 cases reported Oct. 16)
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 1,521 cases (up from 1,459 cases reported Oct. 16)
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 1,474 cases (up from 1,417 cases reported Oct. 16)
Globally, more than 41.5 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and more than 1.1 million people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Thursday afternoon. In the United States, more than 8.3 million people have been infected and nearly 223,000 people have died from COVID-19.
